I married my teacher

A school head teacher forced a Grade 9 pupil to marry her teacher after she fell pregnant with his child. This is a case being heard in the Ndola Main Local Court. It came before the court because the girl is now asking for a divorce, saying her husband does not love her. They have been married three years. Elizabeth Mbewe told the court that there is no love in their marriage and it was forced upon them.

She is quoted in Zambian Daily Mail as saying: “I was in grade nine at the school my husband was teaching. After he impregnated me for a second time, he was instructed by the school head teacher to marry me.”

But she says he doesn’t like her at all and is having an affair. “He says he wants to marry someone beautiful and educated.”

Her husband, Kedrick Ng’ambi, admitted that he does not love Mbewe and he only finds her attractive “when he’s drunk.”

Mbewe told the court that all she wants is to return to school and get an education and work.
The judge granted the divorce and ordered Ng’ambi to pay Mbewe K5,000 as compensation. She told him that he had almost destroyed a young girl’s future and she warned young girls not to have affairs with their teachers.

Girls stay away from teachers and older men. Focus on finishing school and making a future for yourself. Agreeing to sex with an older man can put your future at risk.
