Pregnant After One Time!

Two grade 11 pupil got more than they bargained for when a one-time sexual encounter came a surprise- and a fine of K8,000 owing in damages

Mike Mumpinga (20) of Kaunda Square and Nelia (18) had sex only ONCE. Four months later Nelia announced she was pregnant with his child.

The Zambia Daily Nation reported that Nelia, who had been a virgin before that night, did not know she had fallen pregnant. She found out by accident.

How did she discover she was pregnant? She went to the clinic because she was feeling dizzy. It turned out not to be an illness but a pregnancy.

But father-to-be, Mumpinga claimed that the child she was carrying was not his. Awkward. He then hinted that maybe Nelia had sex with other men - and said he’d only slept with her once.
His refusal to accept responsibility for her pregnancy upset Nelia’s father, Mr. Chipeta who took the matter to court. Mumpinga eventually accepted his responsibility and the matter settled in the Matero Local Court where he was charged K8, 000 in virginity ‘damages’.
