Teen pregnancies are on the rise in Machinga district. And teens are dropping out school to get married! But is that really a bad thing? After all, if you’re in love, why wait?
Malawi Nation reports that teen pregnancies and marriages can be linked to the spread of HIV and other STIS. This is according to Executive Director for Youth Response for Social Change-YRSC Lameck Kiyare. “This poses a great risk to people’s health”, say Kiyare.
Getting pregnant or married young has a huge impact on your future. By not finishing school, you’ll have fewer job options. Plus, for girls, getting pregnant as a teen can be dangerous for your health. Your body is still growing and needs a lot of nutrients. But when you’re pregnant, your growing baby needs these too.
