My Ex Infected Me!

Recently, a Malawian woman took to Facebook to accuse her ex of infecting her with HIV. Her post has spread across social media. She even included a picture of her test, showing the positive result!

According to an article on Malawi24, the woman says when she and her now-ex-boyfriend started dating, they both got tested. But they didn’t go together! She tested negative. And he told her that he had tested negative too!

But, after five months of dating, she heard rumours that he was cheating on her. After he admitted that he had cheated, the couple broke up. While they were together, they hadn’t used a condom or female condom during sex. So the woman decided to go for another HIV test. This time, her result came back as positive.

HIV is real. Always go for an HIV test with your partner so you receive your results together. And even when you know your status, if you choose to have sex, use a condom or female condom every time. It is the only form of contraception that will prevent both pregnancy and STIs or HIV.



Remember, if you test positive - you can still live a happy and healthy life with ARVs. A positive result is not a death sentence.
