Gender-based violence extends also to men and boys with disabilities with an increased risk of exposure to violence, particularly sexual violence.

Men and boys with disabilities can also face gender-based violence because of perceptions that they are not able to fulfill their gender role in society. Moreover, because of misconceptions that men and boys are not victims of gender-based violence, they are rarely identified as needing gender-based violence information and services.

Men and boys with disabilities faced increased isolation and communication barriers compared to their non- disabled peers that represents an additional barrier to accessing essential reproductive health information and care.
