Are you trying to move past a breakup, or are you hoping to get back with your ex?
Sonya Snyder, a relationship expert, points out that you can't move on until you've accepted that the relationship is over.
Breakups are hard because they represent the loss of a shared commitment. Here are useful tips from top relationship experts on getting over your ex and moving on: -
Let your emotions out
Releasing all of your feelings is one sure fire way to move on, however be careful not to dwell on the negative feelings forever.
Try something new
Engage yourself in a new hobby, do something that you like. If you are a sportsperson, take the time out to play your favourite sport rather than stopping just because you're down. Keep your mind occupied. If singing is what you do best, then sing your heart out and let out all the negative emotions.
Reconnect with old friends
Now that you are single you can use the free time to reconnect with old friends. You want to maintain friendships that you might not have had time for when you were with your ex. Ask a friend you haven't seen for ages out and catch up. Organise a get away over the weekend with your friends or even with your long lost relatives. Reconnect with people you care about and who care about you..
Avoid continued contact
When you and your ex finally call it completely quits, you've got to cut off all communication. This can be hard. Make it easier on yourself by deleting their number from your phone, that way you won't be tempted to embarrass yourself by texting or calling them in a time of need.
Moving on can be difficult but if you keep on looking at one door that just closed you just might end up missing out on new and more exciting opportunities that pop in.
